Catching Up on my ATC's!

I have fallen...slightly...behind on my ATC's for the HHN09 challenge on SCS. You wouldn't believe it if you've ever seen my house, but I hate to get behind (I do make an exception for housework)! :)

When I feel like I'm getting too far gone in crafting, I sometimes lose my inspiration. I felt that way with these two ATC's. I could not, for the life of me, think up designs for them. Finally I just sat down and focused only on the HHN09 challenge. And, what do you know? I actually got them done! Who knew that you could get things done when you worked on them!?

Here they are:
For the Lamb ATC, I made the clouds using the cloud stamp from "Choo Choo" (SU). The verse and title are hand-written. Paper is SU.

For Redeemer I stamped the flower (Carte Postale-SU) onto the ATC once and then again on another piece of cardstock. Then I pop-dotted the second one.

These actually came to me pretty quickly. The most time consuming card was Lamb, and even that wasn't too bad. I think I am finally getting the hang of ATC's. It's only taken me 3 months, but that's ok. Good things come to those who wait....right?? :)

King ATC

It feels like forever since I've posted for the HHN09 challenge. I really enjoy doing this challenge. The crafting part is a lot of fun, but the bible study is great too. This week's name is "King". Pretty much everything on this ATC was done by hand. I drew the crown and stickled it with green and gold. Then I wrote the verse and I drew "King" with a white gel pen.

This was probably the quickest ATC I've made. They usually take a long time for me to think up. I'm either getting the hang of ATC's or I've let clean-and-simple take over my life!! :)

Almighty ATC

I finally got a few minutes to work on the next HHN09 challenge. I also got a few moments early this morning to upload the picture. At 8:30am! Why, you may ask? Because someone, with the wrong number, was texting me at that ungodly hour talking to me about cigarettes!!! I considered tracing the call and hunting her down to beat her with her own phone! We are NOT morning people! To top it off someone left the phone in my son's room! Three text message alerts later he was up and so was I. :( Soooo........

Here is my ATC! :)

The stamp is from Stampabilities. I wrote the verse with a purple SU marker. The edges are inked and distressed. Then I added a self-adhesive jewel to the "y". An easy one! ;)

Now, I am going to try to sneak back to bed. Hold my calls! :)

Creator - ATC

When I picked the bible verse I wanted to use for the HHN09 challenge: Creator, I immediately thought of two projects I wanted to do. The scrapbook page below with my son, and an ATC (of course)! I love this verse! It's a great reminder that not only is God our Creator, but He is also our Provider. He hears our prayers! I used a stencil for the butterfly which I inked with sponge daubers in various colors. I tried to continue the color scheme on the edges of the card by inking the sides in each of the colors. I then stickled around the lines of the butterfly wings and added jewels to the ends. The verse is handwritten.

The ink colors I used were: Certainly Celery, Positively Pink, Yo-Yo Yellow, and Orchid Opulence.

God is bigger than anything we can face. Big enough for creation and yet small enough to care for the cries of our hearts!

Praise Him!

Protector ATC

I have finally caught up with the "His Holy Name 2009" challenges! Yaa!

Protector.

I stamped the cardstock with brown Brilliance ink using a Paisley background stamp(All stamps by Stampabilities). I wrote the verse in dark brown. Then I stamed, cut-out, and popped up a small paisly flourish and put it in the corner of the card. The twine is glued around the edges (that was a little tricky!).

The verse is Psalm 18:2 - You are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector, the rock where I am safe, my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter.

I love that verse! It's so powerful and comforting. The rock where I am safe. There is no better place to be than in the rock!

Sovereign - Another ATC card

I finished my 3rd ATC for the "His Holy Name Challenge" on Splitcoast. I am finding that I really enjoy making these little cards.

To be honest, I don't know what I would do with them outside of displaying them. In this case; I like that it's bible verses because I can get a little display stand and always have a great verse handy! I guess maybe I could include them in cards I send out. Hmmm.....

Well, here it is: I stamped the chandelier with Brilliance - Rocket Red pigment ink. I then heat embossed it with clear powder. I cut a piece of acetate to cover the card so that I could put the verse on. "Sovereign" is written on the cardstock, under the acetate. I adhered the acetate with two black brads and covered them with black stickles. I dotted the acetate with stickles over "Sovereign". The verse is hand-written with a black, thin-line Sharpie. (Psalm 73:28)

Righteous ATC

Psalm 32:11 - Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

My second ATC for the HHN09 challenge was based on the name "Righteous". The bird stamps are clear acrylic from Inkadinkadoo. I stamped the flock with Brilliance Gold pigment ink and then heat embossed with holographic powder. The larger bird is stamped overtop with Black Staz-On ink. I hand wrote the verse and "Righteous". The squiggles are also by hand.

I think the border would look better with gold paper instead of white, but that is the heart of crafting; using what you have on hand!!

ATC...what?

For a long time now I've wondered exactly what an ATC is. I've seen some really great examples, but still never quite "got it".

Well, thanks to an awesome challenge on my favorite scrapping website (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/), I finally tried one of my very own! And not only did I make my first ATC, but I tried a new technique as well. Stamping with bleach.

Both were so much easier than I expected.
An ATC is kind of like a baseball card for scrappers. Artist Trading Card, to be precise! The measurements are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". Tiny!! It definately takes getting used to (especially for 12x12 scrappers like me!). Other than that the design is whatever you want to make it! I'll have to say I really enjoyed making an ATC. It was kind of liberating! :)

Stamping with bleach is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. You place a paper towel in a shallow dish and soak it in bleach. Then you use it as a stamp pad to ink your stamp. Then stamp the image on a piece of colored cardstock. It's fun to try different colors to see what results you will get. On my ATC I stamped the cross onto brown cardstock and it turned a sort of caramel color. I cleaned my stamp immediately with a baby wipe. I haven't heard any reports of the bleach harming the stamp,but I just wanted to be safe.

The flourish in the corner of the card was made using my Cuttlebug. It was from the "Fancy Corners" four pack of embossing plates. I just trimmed around the outside edges and adhered it to the corner of my card.

The challenge was to incorporate one of the names of God, along with an appropriate verse. You can make any type of card or page. There's really a lot of freedom. I chose to do ATC's because I wanted to try them anyway. When I am done I can display them and have all those beautiful names and verses to look through. It's a year long challenge and the host chooses a new name every two weeks. I started at the beginning with "Holy". The verse I picked was Isaiah 47:4

As for our Redeemer, the Lord of Hosts is His name, the Holy One of Israel.
